One of the things I'm proudest of is persuading espncricinfo.com to run fortnightly cryptic puzzles. I thought there would be a market for cricket-themed puzzles which weren't trivial. The Cricinfo audience is global, so my target solver is an Indian expat living in Arizona. Hemical doesn't know about British army units or royal academicians, but in the other hand he can use cricket jargon. The average puzzle has ten or eleven names of cricketers clearly signalled by thematic clueing and 20 other words clued normally (except that phrases often have their cricketing meanings in preference to normal speech). Where possible, I've provided a link to a cheat sheet which at least includes all the names in the grid (in some cases you'll have to fossick about because all I can give is a series home page). The PDF versions retain their original rubrics, which were contemporaneous and may not be as helpful as the online versions
Unfortunately, it turned out there wasn't much of a market, and after two years, the series came to an end on Cricinfo. I still compose puzzles of the same form, but without hope of publication, so they're not fortnightly any more.
